The story is about Anthony McCoy, a visual artist portrayed by Yahya Abdul Mateen, who moved into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini with his partner, gallery director Brianna Cartwright, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down. When he came across an old timer who used to live in the torn housing project of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green neighborhood, he exposed him to a very tragic and horrific word-of-mouth ghost story of Candyman, a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, which can be easily be summoned by those who call his name five times by looking into the mirror. What he thought to be a blow to his carrier became a horrific experience for everyone around him, as the story he heard became real.
